$49 & $50/share Short-Term Moves for Apple (AAPL) & Chipotle (CMG)

The beauty of following leading stocks is that when they pull back– either due to an earnings stumble or two or the market’s weakness– they have the potential to come back with a VENGEANCE! This is what happened with my Apple (AAPL) and Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) stock picks.

Apple (AAPL) had become the stock that nobody wanted as late as April 23rd. Everyone talked about the fact that the stock had become untradeable, that it was now a purely “value” play. All that changed when Apple announced strong earnings and speculation grew about the company’s product pipeline. Suddenly the stock was on everyone’s “wish list.”

Given how far the stock had fallen and seeing all of the very positive speculation, I firmly believed there was a lot more upside to the stock, and I featured it at $595.85 in my May 14th subscriber update.

Fueled by comments from Apple SVP Eddy Cue that Apple was poised to launch “the best product pipeline” he’s seen in his 25 years– including a larger screen iPhone 6 with home automation capabilities, rumblings about an iWatch release as early as October, and a possible Apple TV update– and the stock took off, Take a look:

By close of trading Friday, June 6th, the stock was up over $49/share ahead of its 7:1 stock split on Monday, June 9th.

Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) was a different story. It had merely been pulled back along with the rest of the market, accompanied by a chorus of analysts who, as always, thought the stock was “overvalued.”

Knowing the company had fooled too many, too often, I featured the stock from early May through May 21st, with a buy point of $518.64.

On May 22nd, the stock took off, and blistered higher. By Friday, June 6th, it was up a smokin’ $50/share!

I welcome your comments.
